Multimedia Reportage for TNC

Ian Shive recently did double duty for the latest cover of The Nature Conservancy magazine, not only photographing the story but also shooting all of the video for the project which is now featured as a major initiative for TNC known as Outside Voices. For this piece, Ian conducted in-depth interviews with select individuals who had a unique perspective on what conservation means in their local area. One of the most fascinating profiles was with Mike Monroe whose family has lived on a piece of the Cumberland Plateau for many generations. Ian conducted all interviews and cinematography. Editing was done internally at TNC.

Basics of Multimedia in Outdoor Photographer

Ian Shive recently contributed an article to OP on the making-of the most recent production from Wild Collective, the multimedia production company he co-founded with Russell Chadwick. The expansive article gives photographers a basic sense of storytelling and shooting for nature photography with today’s DSLR cameras. Ian Shive featured in National Parks Magazine

Ian Shive and the team at Wild Collective were featured in the Summer 2010 issue of the NPCA member-benefit magazine, National Parks. Text and photos shot by Ian Shive and the streaming multimedia was shot and produced by Wild Collective. The feature takes readers and viewers on a journey across the Island of Hawai’i—the largest in the chain of islands. The landscape comes alive as you fly over the primordial landscape of Volcanoes National Park, wind along the coastline to Pu’uhonau o Hōnaunau, and trek across the world’s largest mountain, Mauna Kea.

In a stroke of good fortune (in the most bitter sweet of ways) my book has become a hot commodity with most retailers running out, includig Amazon who ran out after a huge burst of sales during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. No fear for those Amazon customers – my publisher assures your books will be delivered before Christmas. However I’ve received emails from Canada to Kansas asking where they can get the book because it’s sold out everywhere. Well look no further! Barnes & Noble has the book if you purchase it online for 41% off for members! So click below to place your order today.
