NY Book Launch a Success!

This past Wednesday was a great night as my new book, The National Parks: Our American Landscape, launched in New York City. Hosted by the swank and well-connected group YourOnTheList.com at Su Casa Bar & Grill in Greenwich Village, nearly a 150 people filled the bar for an early cocktail reception with excellent Deep Sea white and red wines pouring freely from California’s best – Conway Family Wines. Thanks to everyone who made it out for the night and who came to the book signing afterwards at Barnes & Noble. Read a press review of the night here.  Below are some photos from the event:

Yellowstone Country: Barefoot in the Tetons

Even for us travelers who seem to wander endlessly from stunning location to exotic location, it can sometimes be easy to forget the most important reason we do so – to find solace, relax and just let go of whatever it is we call our daily grind. These days, my daily grind is more often about coffee and free wifi signals, but nonetheless, places like Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park will always bring me back to my center. A few weeks ago, with two wonderful friends, I decided to randomly detour from the prescribed trip and float the Snake River, hike mosquito-filled trails and just sit back and forget that anything else existed.

It’s on shelves!

An exciting photo popped up my inbox this afternoon from National Parks magazine editor, colleague and friend, Scott Kirkwood. It was none other than a photo of my book on the shelf at Borders in Washington D.C. It’s official and finally starting to feel real. Be sure to pick up a copy to read an essay at the front of the book by Scott, as well as an essay by another NPCA editor and friend, Amy Marquis.
